One thing you’ve left out, expand the supreme court add another 4 democrats to stop this illegal court doing anymore damage.

I should have mentioned that directly and will elaborate on that in a future column. I personally support expanding the Court, Marik. Thank you for flagging that here!

Do the Six think women are human?

Once again I thank you Lisa for your analysis of the Supreme Court. Your book should be required reading in all law schools! You are right. It doesn’t have to be this way. I fear, however, that we are a long time away from the significant changes that need to be made. Keeping the faith and continuing to fight is what I hold onto for now. I do believe it is time for the 25th amendment and let the cards fall where they may. We will not make it through another 3 years with this President.

Roberts certainly unleashed hell against the constitution if you want my opinion. If you and two thousand miscreants with female anatomy’s tried an overthrow of the government by the same events as Jan 6ers did, JAIL for sedition!!! But quietly usurping the constitution in shadow dockets, unconstitutional laws like racial profiling etc…. is much worse! It will make us as useless as other 3rd world totalitarian nations. This is a nightmare, not a vision! May they resign, go to Russia or North Korea and find utopian totalitarian regimes that make them happy.

After reading the excellent "Without Precedent" and what is revealed in some other recent articles about Roberts's pre-judicial career, I'm beginning to think that he should recuse (and should have recused) himself from any VRA cases that come before the Supreme Court.

That would require integrity - something sorely lacking in any members of the Gang of Six Rubber Stamp Committee. Indeed, that's the very reason they were installed in the first place.

I could not agree more. I particularly like the recommendations in the last paragraph, and would add that we ought to be thinking about establishing a constitutional court (see https://www.post-gazette.com/opinion/guest-columns/2024/12/10/roberts-supreme-court-bias-partisan-rightwing-citizens-united-dobbs-bruce-wilder/stories/202412100005 ).

The actions of the Roberts court will go down in infamy. I despise John Roberts with all my heart and soul. Even more than demented deluded malignantly narcissistic Trump because you would think that Robert’s would know better. He gave us a mad corrupt king and for what? What are the principles and ideals behind his loyalty to Trump?. What does he want? A country where only white people have representation and polluters can defile our country and foreign billionaires can buy our elections?

Eileen's avatar

You took the words out of my mouth. Trump never hid his vileness. Trump is malignant. He doesn’t know how to do otherwise. Roberts? He’s the man who enabled everything wrong today. I loathe him.

Or maybe he’s the justice that’s been to Epstein’s island?…..

MDKGardens's avatar

I totally agree. It’s time Justices have limits on their terms.

The democrats must believe that the way back to power is in their hands,..vote these bastards out,..then carry out long overdue reforms.

Sue's avatar

Voting isn’t enough. What did they do in the Old West, WWI, WWII?

Michele Bouvet's avatar

Change the constitution to have term limits on SCOTUS.

@Lisa Graves I just wrote this piece today and definitely not a writer but it might have a modicum of interest to you
